Rain, Rain, Sweet!!!

It looks like it is going to rain all day! YES!

Not only does it cool us all off and make it feel more like Fall, but I love gray, rainy days! The smell, the breeze, the sound. I throw open all the windows and relax. I should have been born in London or Seattle.

And both kitties love the water, so they still go outside and play on their leashes, which amazes me!

~~~~
I had the weekend off. It looks like after working almost 10 days straight, I will be finally settling down into my Part-Time schedule. I still work most days, but it looks like mostly 1/2 days.
The job is easy...REALLY easy. But the people have been fun and I love that everyone, absolutely everyone, goes to the gym, so I see all kinds of people on a regular basis, easier to keep up on the gossip that way. Hehe.
~~~~

Just a note:

Ducks won 1-3 last night and now they are playing Vancouver tonight. I wish I could see it. Vancouver USED to be fun to watch.

Lancelot comes in from the rain finally. "Oh, I'm wet!?!" Hehe.

PreSeason Has Begun

Sorry that you have to trudge through another several months of my cheering and crying, but hey, what's a blog for?

Anaheim plays Phoenix tonight. Watch it. Tell me how it goes.

If I get the games at all, I get them at 3AM.
Follow the ducks!
Know their schedule!
And preseason schedule!
WATCH THE GAMES!!!!
Still the best: JS Giguere!

The Teemu Rumor

Just when you though all I had to say about hockey was over.

HERE is an excellent article on how amazing our GM, Brian Burke, is. Everyone knows he's amazing. Well except people in Orange County. And considering the Maple Leafs were thinking of taking him away from us, we should show a lil more love. Take a look at it.

In that article is something called the "Teemu Rumor". Have you heard it?

Teemu has been contiplating retirement. He said his Stanley Cup year would be his last, but then he came in VERY late last season. Now, Burke says he will not have that luxery. He either starts with the team or can't come back. Good decision, if you ask me. But here is what the article said:

Teemu in Montreal?

If the Ducks won't allow Selanne to play another short season, would another team extend him the courtesy? There's been buzz before linking the Finnish Flash to the Canadiens, primarily because of his relationship with Saku Koivu, and there's again a discernible hum suggesting that Selanne is interested in closing out his career in La Belle Province. The 38-year-old appears to have a little something left after scoring 26 points in 23 games with Anaheim last season, but it's hard to believe GM Bob Gainey would grant him the latitude to pick his own start date. It'd be fun to see vets Selanne and Koivu line up together in the NHL, but classify this rumor as a longshot.

Long shot indeed. I am gonna have to say no freakin way on that one. What do you think? PS~ I only hope I am back in the states when they retire his number in Anaheim! How cool will THAT be??? *swoon*

Good Luck Penguins

Well, some concats goes out to Nessa, long time penguin fan. They are going to meet the Detroit Redwings for the Stanley Cup. The team is young- very young. And no matter how talented 4 guys are on that team, I cannot believe they made it this far!! Well, I wish them luck, because as a Duck fan, I hate Detroit. But they don't have a chance-- unless you start seeing penguins in hell (hehe).
~
I say Detroit in 5 games.

The Ducks Go Home

Ducks lost game 6 last night against the Dallas Stars.
We are out of the playoffs and the Stars go to the next round.
Sad.
We put up a good fight.
I hate all the other western teams.
Go Flyers (in the East).

You Doubt It?

A couple years ago, I was on my way to a Duck's game. Enigma had a vet appointmet just 45 minutes before that. I was sure in the cool evening weather he would be fine in the car. The game was against the Kings, and you know I cannot be late to watch the Kings lose. Well, I pulled into the crowded parking lot of the Honda Pond and rolled down the car windows to make sure Enigma had fresh air. He was stretched full-out on the back seat, and I wanted to make sure he understood that he was safe and should stay there. I walked toward the staduim backward, pointing my finger at the car and saying emphatically, "Stay! Stay!" The driver of a nearby banged up car, wearing a Kings jersey, gave me a strange look and said, "Why don't you just put it in park?"
We arn't out yet!!
Playoffs against Dallas has gone this way:
Game 1: They win
Game 2: They win
Game 3: Tuesady at 5:30
WE MUST WIN!!! WE NEED TO SUPPORT THEM!!!
GO DUCKS
If You Doubt Me, See Blog Post Below!!!!!!!

I am right, no matter what you say! Today, anyway.

This is my horoscope from Yahoo! for today.
I did not edit this.
I think the astrologist is a Gemini who anticipated a fight with her husband today.
Anyway,
I wish this advice applied to all my days!

Do not let your actions be dictated by the expectations of others today. Do whatever you feel is the right thing to do, no matter what anyone else says. Sure, you may be accused of being selfish, but only by narrow-minded people who are acting out of jealousy. And besides, your reputation is strong enough to withstand any complaints from people whose envy is turning them into small-minded poseurs. They're just jealous that you have the courage to do something truly original.
SO TAKE THAT, WORLD!!!
DUCKS WILL BEAT DALLAS!
I Say So!

Poor Nessa

The Colorado Avalanche are going to the playoffs.

Poor Nessa.

Now she has to watch them die a slow death,

and she has to feel all those confused feelings of

"who should I support?"

I just don't see her dilemma.

Geography be damned.

We are Ducks Fans!

Ducks Going to Playoffs Again

It's official. With their shoot out win over the LA Kings last night, the Ducks are going to the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive season.
Only now we are the Defending Stanley Cup Champoins, fighting to keep the cup!
We have Scott and Teemu back, and we have an amazing rooky goalie from Switzerland. We do not have the crazy numbers we did last year, but I think that is better. They know they have to fight a lil harder.
Supposedly, once again, we are supposed to be all fearful of the San Jose Sharks. Ooooh, they are great again this year, blah blah. I hate that team. They are so over-rated, and the Ducks are definately the better team.
However, in the playoffs, there can be upsets, and if San Jose goes forward, and we don't, I will concider that an upset! I would be the only one, but I don't care.
So get out your jersey and duck whistle. The post season is coming!

David Letterman and Hockey

You know how I lament constantly that Hockey does not get its dues?

Well it seems that David Letterman had some ideas to get it more mainstream.

Keep in mind that this list is from 1995!!

(Ugh, the year I graduated!)

-

Top 10 Ways to Make Hockey More Exciting

According to David Letterman

-

10. During playoffs, players dress up as their favorite Ice Capades character
9. Canadians must play in bare feet

8. All penalty minutes must be served sitting next to that guy who played "Doc" on "The Love Boat."
7. Just barely visible under ice: frozen body of Walt Disney
6. Replace Zamboni with Ford Bronco
5. Your New Jersey Devils starting goalie--Miss Katharine Hepburn
4. New snack bar item: player's missing teeth dipped in fudge
3. Every team roster must include one lesser known cast member from "The Love Boat"
2. Only guys named Stanley get to wear a cup
1. Let Michael Jordan take a crack at it
PS:
Have you seen what the royals are up to lately?

Joke

Late one night, a Kings fan and a Ducks fan collide head on while driving accross a bridge. Fortunately, both are un hurt, but their cars are pretty banged up.
"This is a sign," says the Kings fan, "that we should put away our differences and live as friends instead of rivals."
"You're right," says the Ducks fan. He pops open the trunk and takes out a bottle of bourbon. "Let's toast to our newfound friendship."
The Kings fan takes a big swig and hands back the bottle. "Your turn."
"Nah," says the Ducks fan, tossing the bottle into the river. "I think I'll just wait for the police to show up."

Tonight we play the Colorado Avalanche.

Induldge Me

The Anaheim Ducks had lost 3 out of 3 of their last games before a certain

came back to play rather than retire.

Since he has come back we have won 4 out of 4 games!

To be fair I must mention that we played the Detroit Red Wings ( a Stanley Cup Favorite and Ducks rival) TWICE.

Oh, and we happened to WIN twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahahahahaha.

You know, I think it is about time Hockey got its dues, and the 1 thing Bush did right was honor the 2007 Stanley Cup Winner, the Anaheim Ducks!

I sniff another cup in out future...

Sunday Seven

Cole was under the weather yesterday, so Nessa could not go to Denver. Nino came with me instead. It was his first hockey game. I was just excited to see some of the players that I have not seen in Anaheim, although it felt wierd cheering for another team! We stayed the night in Denver and went to the Denver Art Museum the next day. All our fun inspired this next Sunday Seven. Sorry it's late!

At the Hockey Game

Sunday Seven List of Reasons to Visit Denver

1. It is relatively clean and safe- especially compared to DC or LA.

2. Traffic and parking were not a problem, and it was not hard to get around. We never really got lost, although we had some trouble finding the Pepsi Center. Really. How hard is it to see a Stadium!

3. The leaves change and fall off, and it snows! Seasons! Cities look gorgeous changing in the seasons. I think that was DC's only saving grace.

4. The Avalanche are a good team, and the fans are even better. The stadium was fuller and louder than most of the Ducks games I have been to. And the Avs lost!

The Avalanche from our seats

5. The Denver Art Museum is the best museum I have been to so far. Smaller than LACMA, it is two buildings with gardens and large sculptures in the courtyards. It was pretty easy to find what we wanted and they had a ton of interactive games and things to do. Also, it is located downtown right next to the state capital buildings and park, which made for a pretty walk.

Nino playing dress up at the Museum

6. You are only two hours away from the fantastic city of Pueblo West (where my family is)!

7. I had a wonderful time and I want to go back to do some of the things that we did not have time for this trip. I really want to go back to the Museum as well. They are having a show of paintings, drawings, furniture, and treasures on loan from The Louvre that were once housed in Versailles. That is all right up my alley. There is also a big amusement park right next to the stadium, but it was closed for the winter.

Colorado Vacation- Part 1

I made it here night before last (even if my luggage did not). I gave my seat up on a full flight and was able to switch to a nonstop flight (instead of a 5 hour layover in Vegas) AND got a $200 voucher for another flight. And my luggage came yesterday- whew!
Cole is doing so much more now than the last time I saw him (Easter). He is walking great, and he sings and dances. He is still pretty unsure about whether I am going to hurt him or not, but I seem to interest him also. He jumps a mile everytime I yell, laugh, but he does not cry and I can pick him up without fuss, so we seem to be getting along fine. Yesterday, I told Nessa I wanted to hold him as much as possible, so he would remember me when I get back from Spain. I said that way he could recognize my smell. She said that cats do that, not babies. I asked if that meant cats were smarter than her baby. She then tried to run me down with a shopping cart.
Nessa and I went out last night. Considering we are in the sticks, we found a couple nice places to chill, have drinks, and play those video-bar-games. Nessa complained that it is too hard here to feel dressed up in the winter, because you have to wear so many layers of clothes (it was freezing-literally), but we looked cute in the end.
Steffy looks SO cute! She is 6 months along and is as slightly built as ever except for this perfectly round belly.
We also got some great news yetserday! Ernie just got a new job! He will now be working here in town. No more truck-driving or being gone most of the week! Yay!
Now for what you really want to know:
Enigma LOVES it here. He loves all the activity and he gets along fine with all the dogs. I have to be careful letting him outside, because there a lot of birds of prey here that could get him before I even know what happened. Also, I don not know if it is the altitude or dry air, but whatever makes it so hard for me to breathe here, makes him stop all that gagging and coughing. Wierd, huh?
TONIGHT Nessa and I go to Denver to see the Avalanche play Vancouver!! I have not been to a hockey game in forever! Go Avs!
My phone is almost dead, but I hope to have pictures for you soon!

Watching the news?

Irvine, Malibu, San Diego, Lake Arrowhead all on fire. Last night there were 107mph
winds.
My plants got knocked down! There is ash all over all my furniture. The sky is grey and the air tastes bad, and I want to cough all the time. Besides that, thank heavans we are all safe here in Costa Mesa.
Also, Bahrain is in the
news.
There was a shooting involving the Navy there, but I talked to John and he is fine. A little miffed, because he was stuck on base for a while, but that's all.
On a happier note, the Stanley Cup Champions got their championship rings!

Way to go guys!!

Thank You Ducks for the Send-Off of Champs!

John, Nima, Moo, and I would like to thank the Anaheim Ducks for getting the job done last season.

Knowing that we were goingto Spain, and watching as much hockey as I was last season, and knowing there would be none of that in Espana, I got down on my knees and asked the hockey gods for the Ducks to win the last whole season that I would see them in.
I watched almost every game either in person (a couple times) or on TV. And I would do it with my new jersey John got me for last Halloween, my lucky marble in my pocket (usually only reserved for public speaking, flying, and test days), and my list of players that I kept a running tab of notes on throughout the season. In the end, I had to put it in a page protector, because it was so "loved", it was feeling more like cloth than paper.
Well, as you know (I sure hope you do), they won the Stanley Cup. If you don't know that is like the winning the Superbowl. SO no matter what happens this season, I leave the country with the Ducks as winners!!
