Anticipation

Just a couple of places I CANNOT wait to visit when I get to Spain:

1. ALHAMBRA.
It is the best preserved midieval Arab Palace in the world. It is gorgeous. Everyone I talk to who has been tehre says you just HAVE to go there. It is not that far either- about 300km. It is still in Andalucia, in the city of Granada. Most of it was biult in the 11th century, but it was started before that. The pictures I have seen are amazing. One neighbor I talked to said that the sky there looked like a Luney Toons cartoon, because it was so bright and colorful. One of the things that I think is so cool about the area that we will be in is the huge Arabian influence from when they had the country centuries ago. They left some amazing architecture.

2. The CAVES of ALTAMIRA.

We learned about these in my last Art History class. They are cave paintings dating back to 25,000BC- beat that! They were found in 1879, and they are mostly of Bison and other animals. After a while of visitors, the caves started to deteriate and get grafittied, so they were shut to the public, but there is a museum there and a replica of the caves designed to look and feel like the real thing. There is a waiting list to see the real caves, but the waiting list is 3-4 years lone, so I might just miss it- DARN!

Waste Your Wednesday

This is a fun game, but requires some thinking, so get a cup of coffee first.

Ever play "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon"? It is like that.

"6 Degrees of Wikipedia"

(if you do not know, wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that anyone can add to. it has everything you ever wanted to know and MUCH more. it can be rather addicting, because each page has links that lead you to another page and all the sudden it is 3 AM and you are learning the Finnish National Anthem. not kidding- it happened to me. )

To play you choose two completely unrelated things (ANYTHING- and make it specific). For ex: instaed of baseball and France, pick Boston Red Sox and The Battle of Waterloo.

Ok, go to wikipedia, (the search box is on the righthand side) and look up the first thing. See if you can make it to the 2nd thing in 6 clicks- or see how many it takes. Clicking only on a link from the page you are on. (The blue word are links to other wikipedia pages on other related subjects) NO TYPING.

If you are confused, comment at bottom and I will help you.

If you did it, or found some good ones, or found two things that would JUST not connect, comment at bottom, and I will try to beat your score on it.

Have fun!

If you want to get the hang of it, or you are a filthy cheater, click here. But only use this tool to learn the game, not to play it.
